jquery plugins - JavaScript: Truncating text based on outer object's dimensions -


i want to, using javascript, chop given text fit object in text resides , add "..." @ end.

for example: javascript got data 3rd party web service , needs put text 200 x 300 px div. text's length vary, let's take more space provided.

how determine @ point text break through border , prevent chopping text , adding "..." @ end?
