silverlight - What are the options for developing powerful browser hosted UI in Java? -


i interested widen horizons , wish learn options developing powerful browser hosted ui in java. know .net based solutions, silverlight, find extremely powerful, although not without regretful omissions compared elder brother - wpf.

so, rephrase question. there mature silverlight alternatives in java?

  • i not starting war of java vs .net, please not raise benefits of java against .net in general. interested in specific area only, else put aside.
  • please, not bring adobe air, flex, html5, etc... questions java.

the question java, front-ends web never written in pure java.

  • gwt - that's write pure java translated javascript , html automatically

  • jsf - reuse rich components create pages. still there's html , javascript. resembles asp.net model

  • vaadin - heard of it, never used it. seems promising

  • zk - same above.

  • jquery - yes, has nothing java, powerful tool creating rich ui

  • flex - easy integration java back-ends. (i don't flex, it's viable option)

(i omitted javafx, because in opinion not yet mature)
